Quality Engineer
Plan and share in the direction of activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of established company and industry quality standards for aerospace, defense and aircraft manufacturing processes, materials and products.
10-15 years experience in the quality field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Expert understanding of hardware quality assurance standards and methods including AS9100, AS9102 and NADCAP.
Under the guidelines of AS9100, NADCAP and the Company's established QMS:
- Review and approve written manufacturing instructions and processes for compliance to drawings, specifications and customer purchase order requirements.
- Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Establish program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
- Develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
- Assist workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
- Compile and write training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
Other responsibilites:
- Quality Management System maintenance including participation in internal auditing program and periodic independent audits.
- Analysis of root cause data and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
- Customer Quality Interface; addressing customer complaints & corrective action.
- Review quality reports and drive actions to improve quality.
- Coordinate and drive continuous improvement program.
- Document and/or review all procedures and processes.
Under the direction the Company Quality Manager, this individual will provide senior level quality engineering oversight and support to internal organizations and programs. Together, they will develop and evaluate QA processes, procedures and specifications related to product or internal processes and recommend changes to specifications or processes.
This individual will provide senior level quality-engineering support and mentoring to quality inspectors, production personnel, and other company personnel, as required. As directed by the Quality Manager, this individual will provide support to the Purchasing Organization for Supplier Quality related activities (i.e., Pre-Award and Maintenance Quality Audits, Source Inspections, On Site FAI Reviews and supplier mentoring and development).
Job requirements:
- Evaluate and interpret complex drawings and requirements related to products and in support of programs.
- Thorough knowledge of GD&T. Knowledge of Military or Aerospace quality systems.
- Green or Black belt certification in Lean - Six Sigma desirable.
- Experience with mechanical parts.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. CAD knowledge in Pro-E or Catia.
